Tuesday, November 17, 2020 Smile of the Day: The Computer Mouse

On this Day:

On this day in history, Douglas Engelbart of the Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International) received the first patent for the computer mouse. Of course everything that moves must receive its own unit of measure and for computer mice, Mickeys per second is the relevant unit of measurement for the speed and movement direction of a computer mouse. (per Wikipedia)

First, a Story:

I saw an opera about a rodent that goes round letting the air out of tires. Deflator Mouse.

Second, a Song:

The computer mouse use took off on both PCs as well as on Macintosh computers as the use and pervasiveness of computers occurred. Accordingly it was just a matter of time before someone starting writing music about computers. Here is Rainer Hersch and his orchestra playing Microsoft Windows – The Waltz.

Thought for the Day:

“The early bird may get the worm, but it’s the second mouse that gets the cheese.” – Jeremy Paxman

Cheers!

Have a great day!
